Kimberly Watson

Kimberly Yvette Watson is a Vice President in Group Insurance Risk Management at Prudential.  She has responsibility for providing leadership and direction to the functional business areas of Underwriting, Claims, Finance and Actuarial in developing and maintaining an effective and efficient risk management program.  Her efforts are geared toward partnering with the business in pro-actively identifying where risk assessments or control reviews are needed, building strong relationships as an audit liaison, serving as a risk advisor to senior executives, as well as addressing any issue that occurs from operational practices.  She is responsible for leading the effort to ensure that operational risks are well managed throughout the functions which support her areas of responsibility.  In addition, she works with key constituents in the business to ensure appropriate consideration is given, informed business decisions are made, and intelligent risks taken, as the business works to achieve its objectives.    

Prior to joining Prudential in 1997, Kimberly worked for the president of Cityscape Institute, a non-profit organization committed to improving streetscapes for the citizens of New York City.  At Prudential, she has held various positions in the Individual Life Insurance Department in such roles as Vice President Individual Life Insurance and Agency Distribution Risk Management, Prudential Appeals Committee Representative, Compliance Associate for the Policy owner Relations Department, as well as a position in the Law Department as a Legislative Analyst.  During her tenure in Risk Management, Kimberly was instrumental in developing the process to ensure that Sarbanes Oxley protocols were in compliance with company standards and were maintained within the business.

Kimberly attended North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University where she majored in Business Administration with a concentration in management.  In addition, she has her Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts.  She is a member of CALIBR (formerly, NextGen Network) an affiliate of The Executive Leadership Council; and is a graduate of the Women Unlimited, Inc. leadership development program.
