Rasheeda S. Liberty: 2023 Honoree

International Grand Basileus Rasheeda S. Liberty wears many hats from corporate executive, entrepreneur, non-profit leader to mother and wife. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, yet raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she was raised to believe that there were no limits or boundaries placed on her life. She attended Marquette University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, attended law school and earned an MBA.

Professionally, she has worked in the areas of banking, financial services, corporate law, insurance, media, heavy equipment leasing, consumer packaged goods, and most recently tech and sports. After a great financial career and managing a $4B portfolio with Mars, Inc., the makers of several multi-billion-dollar brands, i.e. M&Ms ®, Snickers®, Uncle Ben’s®, Wrigley®, PEDIGREE®, and Cesar®, Liberty transferred her skillset to the largest e-commerce retailer in the world, Amazon. She made history by being the first African-American female to be named Senior Finance Leader for North America Customer Fulfillment (now Consumer/Stores), delivering customer promises with nearly 18,000 associates, and 600 leaders.

Today, she serves as the Chief Diversity Leader for the Utility Computing Sector of Amazon Web Services. She seamlessly fused her corporate acumen with her passion for sports, venturing into the representation of professional football players in leagues such as the NFL, CFL, XFL, and USFL. This endeavor led to the establishment of Lady Lib Sports & Entertainment, a testament to her commitment to excellence in the dynamic intersection of business and sports.

Her profession and various companies have always been supportive of her service for Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Rasheeda S. Liberty was elected the 25th International President of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., in July 2020. As a 30- year member of the renowned sorority, she led the organization to celebrate its 100th year in 2022. International Grand Basileus Liberty provides leadership to over 100,000 inducted members and serves as chairman of the board of directors, composed of 38 national and regional officers who manage the sorority’s 500 chapters in the United States and in several countries. A proven and dedicated mentor, she propelled both the growth and the branding of Sigma Gamma Rho serving in several leadership roles over the course of her membership locally, regionally and internationally.

She is also celebrated for her negotiation strength and prowess, which has brought in nearly 3 million in committed funds towards programming and scholarship efforts for the sorority. To date, she has introduced new partners to the organization, such as Google, Macy’s, Goldman Sachs, McDonald’s, U.S. Army, Good Health Wins and the OWN Network. She has also propelled their social action efforts forward with forums with the White House and critical partners, including When We All Vote, OWN Your Vote, and The Collective. International Grand Basileus Liberty also launched a professional development arm for the sorority, named the Sigma Flame Institute, and has also hosted the first “Day of the Hill” event with members of congress focusing attention on the safety and security of women and youth.

Her accomplishments earned her esteemed distinctions and honors, including being named a 3-time NAACP Image Award judge, recognized for a $1 Million donor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, received the Star of Leadership from Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, named a “Hometown Hero” by Cricket Wireless, and recognized a BOSS honoree from the BOSS Network and Ladies That Lead Tour just to name a few.

In recent years, she became a certified NFL agent to provide a gateway and support for football players entering the draft and those looking to expand their legacy post career. She is a member of numerous organizations serving as a board member of the Urban Enrichment Institute, compassion partner for GoFundMe, and active member of both Top Ladies of Distinction and Jack and Jill of America. International Grand Basileus Liberty served as the 2022-23 Chair of the NPHC Council of Presidents. She has been deemed a corporate inspiration, featured on MSNBC, speaking at the 60th March on Washington, Empowered Black Women & Well-Being Roundtable of the American Heart Association, ESSENCE Live, the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, the Sybil Wilkes Show and on the Black News Channel.

International Grand Basileus Liberty resides in Houston, Texas and is married to Gregory Liberty, and they have two children, Nailah and Malik.
